The Ascent (Voskhozhdenie)
In the cold of World War II, two pro-Soviet partisans, Sotnikov and Rybak, set out to find food for their comrades. They found a sheep in the house of a village chief who sided with the Nazis, but their journey home was cut short when they were caught by an enemy patrol. Sotnikov stands firm on his principles, refusing to speak despite being tortured, while Rybak tries to survive at any cost—including betraying his friend. One of them will survive, but at a terrible price. Who will survive?
