Millennium Actress (Sennen joyu)
Genya Tachibana, a TV journalist, discovers the legendary star Chiyoko Fujiwara who has disappeared from the acting world for 30 years. When he hands over a mysterious key, Chiyoko begins to tell him about her life—as a teenager, she fell in love with a revolutionary painter who gave her the key before disappearing. In order to find it, Chiyoko becomes an actress, taking her through various eras and film genres, as if her search is realized in every role she plays. The story captivates Tachibana and his cameraman, who are drawn into a fantastic narrative between reality and imagination.
