Big Miracle
In the cold Alaska, October 1988, a local reporter, Adam Carlson, found three gray whales trapped under ice that threatened their lives. The story exploded in national media, sparking a rescue movement involving his ex-girlfriend—Greenpeace activist Rachel Kramer—his archenemies from oil companies, politicians, and the Inupiat tribe who had originally intended to hunt the whale.
